Au début du XIXème siècle, dans une Europe harassée par les guerres Napoléoniennes, une troupe d’artistes ambulants est invitée dans son château par le comte Drago (Christopher Lee). L’aristocrate est un fou excentrique passionné par la taxidermie. En effet, le château est rempli d’animaux embaumés ayant un air étrangement vivant. Eric (Philippe Leroy), et Laura (Gaia Germani) vont bientôt découvrir que la passion du comte le mène à d’horribles expériences, et ne se limite pas qu’aux animaux…
