Special AFM 2008 Part.2

Special AFM 2008 Part2 You will find here the first teasers, stills, posters, synopsis & rumors about upcoming horror movies !!

"LIVE EVIL" - New Trailer
Sporting a fantastic cast including Tiffany Shepis, Ken Foree, Chuck Williams and Tim Thomerson this looks like a flick to keep an eye on.

In the film human blood has become unpure by being polluted by drugs, alcohol, AIDS and all other kinds of inpurities. This causes a group of vampires to go on a cross country trip looking for pure blood. Hot on their trailer however is a Priest with an attitude who is trying to wipe them off the face of the planet.

"MORTIS REX"
UK-based Intandem Films has taken on world rights for and will executive produce supernatural action thriller "MORTIS REX". The film will mark the directorial debut of Peter Briggs, who was one of the writers on Guillermo del Toro's "HELLBOY" and has been a writer-for-hire for studio films. The $25m project will shoot in the second quarter of 2009.

Set in 122 AD, the story follows a disgraced Roman war hero who comes face to face with a supernatural beast causing horrendous deaths. Mortis Rex is Latin for "king of death."

Briggs said: “As a former cinematographer, and as a screenwriter writing on some of the most memorable Hollywood tent-pole horror and sci-fi franchises of recent years, I've used that to shape Mortis Rex into a highly accessible piece of entertainment: by turns both an action-packed thrill-ride and equally a scary, heart stopping nail-biter. Working with Intandem and their expertise in film finance and sales I'm excited about the potential of the film.”

Intandem director Andrew Brown said: “This is a genre that has opened up enormously in recent years through the outstanding box office success of such genre-led films namely, 300, Beowulf and Cloverfield. Peter is an exceptional writer who has created an amazing but terrifying world based on true fact and we are most confident that he will direct a superb hi-end, genre-led live-action film that I'm sure will have worldwide commercial appeal."

In the film set around the holidays, Basinger stars as a suburban housewife mercilessly stalked by a group of young thugs led by a manipulative psychopath (Lukas Haas). She fights for her life armed with only a toolbox. "(Anchor Bay's) expertise will bust through the film glut that is out there and help push this film about the 'worst Christmas Eve ever,' " says Murphy.

Set in an abandoned film studio from another era, Don't Look Up charts the unraveling sanity of a director and his crew when spirits from that bygone era invade the film stock of the contemporary production and, in a few stark frames, open a horrifying window on a terrible curse from the past.

"SHUTTER" Director Returns With "COMING SOON"
Another cool discovery at this year's AFM was loads of art for Sopon Sukdapisit's latest horror film, "COMING SOON", a Thai film that asks, what kind of scenes in a horror film scares you the most? When a ghost appears totally unexpectedly? When the main character does not see the ghost sneaking up behind him? When at the very end you find out that the main character was actually a ghost all along? But none of this compares to the feeling of arriving home alone and suddenly being stuck by a feeling of deja-vu that you are reenacting the very same scenes in the horror movie you just saw! Inside you can check out all the goodies from the co-writer of "ALONE" and "SHUTTER"'s latest.

TCM Inspired "SUMMER'S BLOOD"
From David Cronenberg producer Pierre David comes a new horror comedy entitled "SUMMER'S BLOOD", which is said to be quasi-inspired by "THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE".
Directed by Lee Demarbre, the film stars Ashley Michele Greene ("TWILIGHT"), Stephen McHattie ("WATCHMEN"), Peter Mooney and Barbara Niven. Inside you can check out the art, along with a massive synopsis.

After discovering that her mother has lied about her birth to her estranged father, hardened teenager SUMMER (Ashley Greene, "TWILIGHT") hits the road looking to meet the mystery man. Her only clue is a beat-up letter, postmarked from a small town called Massey. Once she arrives in the rural community Summer is rescued from an altercation with the law by a charming local handyman named TOM HOXEY (Peter Mooney, TV's FALCON BEACH). The couple quickly hits it off and heads back to the house Tom shares with his mother GAIA (Barbara Niven, DEAD AT 17) for a night of casual sex. This decision proves to be the biggest mistake of Summer's young life.

Hoping to sneak out in the morning and continue the search for her father, Summer is startled by Tom who informs her that he has just changed her plans. After being knocked out by Gaia, Summer wakes up screaming, bound with chains inside a box filled with dirt. As she looks around, she sees a number of lush plants and grow lights, and tucked in the corner, another girl, AMBER (Dani Kind) close to death and similarly chained. Tom has created a “human garden” down in the basement of his family's home, and Summer is his latest addition.

Realizing that her only chance for escape is to manipulate Tom, Summer begins an unusual relationship with the troubled young man. Anxious about the return of his own father GANT (Stephen McHattie "WATCHMEN"), a traveling salesman with a taste for blood and women—and dealing with the rising suspicions of Amber's father DARWIN (Peter Dillon, "THE BONE COLLECTOR") threatening to expose all he's built, Tom finds himself closer to Summer than he ever imagined.

Hess and Lewis Topline "SMASH CUT"
Another film from Pierre David's Imagination is Lee Gordon Demarbre's "SMASH CUT", which stars David Hess ("LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT"), Sasha Gray, Michael Berryman, Ray Sager and the legendary Herschell Gordon Lewis. Inside you'll find the sales art from the American Film Market, alone with a long synopsis for the film.

"SMASH CUT" is the dizzying portrayal of ABLE WHITMAN, a trouble filmmaker losing his mind in an extraordinary way.

After his latest “serious” film is met with gales of laughter, Able decides to drown his sorrows at a local strip club--where he meets dancer GIGI SPOT. Minutes later, he's convinced the honey dripping sex-pot to star in his next project. Minutes after that, he's killed her in a drunk driving accident. Needing to dispose of the body, Able stumbles upon the one place nobody would notice a corpse...spread around the set of his new horror film. When the response to this new footage is praised for its realism, the guilt ridden Able has a complete mental breakdown. Believing he has finally discovered the key to making a great horror film, the director quickly discovers that one human body doesn't yield a lot of parts, and if he wants to finish, he's going to have to keep on killing.

Meanwhile, Gigi's sister APRIL hires the city's most celebrated private detective, ISAAC BEAUMONDE, to investigate Gigi's disappearance. But when the simple missing person investigation turns into a string of stomach turning murders, Isaac realizes he's found the case of a lifetime.

With Beaumonde hot on his heels, his sanity unspooling and his collaborators dropping like flies, will Able have the time, focus and resources to complete his magnum opus, or will he simply fade to black?
