L'HISTOIRE

At the height of his criminal career, the infamous Dr. H.H. Holmes designed his castle of horrors in Chicago, where he rented rooms to unsuspecting victims visiting the 1893 World's Fair.
Further benefiting from his victims, Holmes sold their skeletons to local medical schools.

LA CRITIQUE

When we talk about serial killers, the names that first came about are Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ed Gein, Edmund Kemper, Richard Ramirez or even Jack the Ripper. What about Henry Howard Holmes? Why hasn't the first US serial killer, in spite of his sulphurous pas, gotten into history? Why are there so many movies about serial killers and none about H.H. Holmes?

Now it's done with this movie / documentary by John Borowski who signs here his first long-running movie.
<"H.H. HOLMES, AMERICA'S FIRST SERIAL KILLER" is the result of consequent researches and it can be felt when watching. Through images of archives, photos, interviews of diverse speakers or reconstitutions, the story of Doctor Herman Mudgett, a.k.a. H.H. Holmes is combed.
From his past in college till his trial and hanging, through the construction of his building in Chicago nicknames "The Castle" which had, between other, torture chambers, crematorium, surgery unit and other secret trapdoors, by the end of this documentary, the beginner like me will know all about the story of this mysterious character.

For an hour, discovering this captivating film about H.H. Holmes, you'll for sure wonder why we've never heard about him
It's left to be seen how the Hollywoodians will adapt this story in cinema, as two movies about Holmes are in preparation, one realised by Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner, inspired by Erik Larson's book "The Devil in the White City", and the other by Leonardo Di Caprio, through his production company Appian Way, in which he would have a part...

Bonjour,
Merci encore...
