.: STORY
After the departure of his wife with her lover and her disappearance following a car accident, Charles Kessler lives alone with his daughter and servants in a house where strange murders happen..: REVIEW
In spite of a title that could make think of an invisible man story, "Invisible Ghost", produced by Monogram Pictures Corporation, directs Bela Lugosi in the part of a doctor and a good father.
Unfortunately, from the beginning of the movie, we can notice that the script was written in a rush and that it contains much oddness ... Why hasn't Charles Kessler been suspected earlier? Why and how is his wife still alive? Why does a servant hide her? Indeed, so many questions to which "Invisible Ghost" doesn't answer...About the main actor who is, indeed, the most important element of the movie, the same great class still emerged from Bela Lugosi, which characterized him, but it didn't get much further than that, and the viewer will have a hard time caring about his character. Strangely enough, the character of Evans (dark servant incarnated by Clarence Muse), on the contrary, seems much more moving. Let's emphasize, however, the way this last is treated, with respect and dignity, which seems quite rare at the time.
Moreover, the production is quite repetitive, still following the same plan: Charles Kessler sees his wife and then, finds himself in a hypnosis state which pushes him to kill... Even more than lacking of originality, that style of scene repeats three times in a movie that lasts a bit more than an hour, which becomes quickly tiring... So, "Invisible Ghost" isn't an indispensable movie and doesn't reflect the image of Bela Lugosi we're used to, his part in "The Devil Bat" corresponded more to him.
