.: REVIEW
For the second time since the beginning of the Godzilla franchise, (Motoyoshi Oda having directed "Godzilla Raids Again" - "Gojira No Gyakushu"), it's not Ishirô Honda, cult director of this series, but Jun Fukuda that is in control.
This last isn't a probationer as he was already director's assistant on "Rodan" ("Sora No Daikaijû Radon") in 1956. He also directed, later, "Son Of Godzilla" ("Gojira No Musuko") in 1967, "Godzilla vs. Gigan" ("Chikyu Kogeki Meirei: Gojira Tai Gaigan") in 1972, "Godzilla vs. Megalon" ("Gojira Tai Megaro") in 1973 and "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" ("Gojira Tai Mekagojira") in 1974.
From a casting point of view, we can find some usual actors as Akira Takarada, Hideo Sunazuka, Jun Tazaki, Kumi Mizuno, Toru Ibuki, Akihiko Hirata, and Chotaro Togin already acted in at least to one episode of Godzilla.

"Ebirah: Horror Of The Deep" know in French as "Ebirah Vs Godzilla", reveals to be lighter than the previous movies, from a musical point of view created by Masaru Satô (blues rock during the plane raid) and from its humorous side. Indeed, we're only shown monster fight by the last half of an hour of the movie, the first hour putting the plot into place in much of a James Bond mood about a secret base on a desert island.

Once the action / spy side gone with some apparitions of the giant lobster, we at last can watch the first fight between Godzilla and Ebirah, unforgettable, as we find the two monsters playing tennis with a roc to end up with a wrestling match!

About Mothra, it sleeps all the movie long and only show up during the ten last minutes of the movie. However, we can see it asleep during some musical sequences of invocative dances in order to awake it, a sleep that unfortunately last a bit too long.

We can also notice that the attitude of Godzilla during the air raid strangely reminds of King Kong's (relationship with the girl, the planes...), above all when you know that the Toho, three years earlier, came out with one of its best – sellers : "King Kong Vs Godzilla" ("Kingukongu Tai Gojira").

So, "Ebirah: Horror Of The Deep" is a good movie but strays from what the Toho has got us used to, meaning massive destruction in a urban background.
