"HOUSE OF NIGHT", Latest Teen Vampire Series Announced
It looks like vampires are the new cool. "TWILIGHT" is looking to break box office records this forthcoming weekend, while "TRUE BLOOD" continues its successful first season on HBO. Now "HOUSE OF NIGHT", a series of nine vampire novels, is being slated for a big screen adaptation.Producers Michael Birnbaum and Jeremiah Chechik have used their own coin to option screen rights to the "HOUSE OF NIGHT", a series of nine young adult novels by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.
The series, published by St. Martin's Griffin, just reached its fourth installment with the recently released "Untamed."
"HOUSE OF NIGHT" takes the vampire myth in a "HARRY POTTER"-esque direction. In the series, "vampyres" are accepted in society; they possess a genetic anomaly that manifests itself in some people at puberty. Vampyres are "marked" and sent to the House of Night, a school that offers training necessary to become an adult vampyre.
Protag is Zoey Redbird, whose ordinary life is thrown into disarray when she becomes a vampyre and must change schools and enter a brand new world.
"P.C. and Kristin Cast created a thrilling world that juxtaposes teen drama with supernatural suspense, using the transition from human to vampire as a metaphor for the transition from adolescence to adulthood," Birnbaum said.
Birnbaum produced "JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE" and is developing "ART CON" with Michael Douglas and Chechik; Chechik's directing credits include "BENNY AND JOON", and he most recently helmed and produced ESPN series "THE BRONX IS BURNING".

I am very upset about what some of the other writers are saying about this series, Althought I love some of these writers novels and some are my favorites, I've lost respect for them because of it. Here is the artical I am talking about:

I to beg of you not to cram all of the books into one movie, make each book its own and I love vampire movies and books, I have seen all of the True Bloods, Moonlight, Buffy, Angels, Vampire Diaries, Twilights, and read all of the books and I think if you put your heart into this and make each book its own movie I think they will be one of the biggest success out there and maybe even blow Harry Potter and Twilight out of the box office, I know at least 200 people who would love to see this as a movie and a full length one.

Although I luved Twilight, HON is way more suspenceful, and keeps you on your toes untill the end. I CAN'T WAIT untill they make the movies!!!!!!

OMG! This series books I must say are the best books I have ever read! I just keep reading them over and over! This series, unlike the "Twilight" saga, are sort of more fasinating in their own way. I think this is because there hasn't really been a book like this. In most vampire books they get bitten and "Oh, no!" turn into a vampire, where as in the "Marked" series they actually get Marked and have to go to school and through the change. I REALLY want this to become a movie because I think the actors would be very interesting and different and lots of the boys in the books are "supposedly" very cute !

i love the books and i think they would be awesome movies. I love the twilight series too and they are all going to be great movies. i think The House of night series would be an even better series of movies so i encourage you to make them into movies.

I beg of you, please, please, pretty please, make the whole entire House Of Night Series into a MOVIE! It would be a total phenomenon just like Twilight. Or maybe even BETTER. Please I am so desperate to see this on the big screen. I am so sure it would be worth it. Please, please, and please. You would be doing all of the readers a ginormous favor. This will be your greatest movie ever.
