Born as Béla Ferenc Dezso Blasko in 1882 in Ludos, Hungary, Bela Lugosi marked the beginning of speaking cinema, in particular in the horror genre, being the first actor to take the name of the frightening Count Dracula for Tod Browning in 1931.Famous actor in his native country, he immigrates in the United States in 1921. Celebrity came up in 1927 when he plays the part of Count Dracula in the Broadway version of the legendary novel by Bram Stocker.
The play was played for three years and was later unforgettably adapted for cinema by Tod Browning, establishing Lugosi as the personification of evil on screen. Loyal to his image, Bela Lugosi was buried dressed in the costume of the Prince of Darkness when he died in 1956.
