"ZOMBIELAND" Scribes Pen "DEADPOOL"

"ZOMBIELAND" scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been hired to pen the screenplay for "DEADPOOL", the "X-MEN" spin-off in development at 20th Century Fox, a report at Variety confirming a month old rumor from CHUD.

Ryan Reynolds, who played the wisecracking mercenary character in "X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE" and is slated to reprise it, has a window in his schedule after wrapping Martin Campbell's "GREEN LANTERN" this summer. Reynolds has been bulking up to play the DC Comics hero, thus he would already be in shape to play the Marvel anti-hero if the script is ready by the Summer.

The story is expected to stay true to the mythology of "Deadpool" as Reynolds is a huge fan and protector of the property. Lauren Shuler Donner is producing.

Synopsis : Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
