"ALICE" - Mad Hatter Role for Depp ?
Will Johnny Depp and Tim Burton re-team on the director's forthcoming "ALICE IN WONDERLAND" feature? Studio Disney is neither confirming nor denying his involvement, but online rumours are rife that the long-time friends will collaboorate on the 3-D feature. What is known is that Burton has finally found his Alice and she's Mia Wasikowska, an up-and-coming actress from Australia.
Wasikowska has previously starred in TV shows "ALL SAINTS" and "IN TREATMENT" and has just finished playing the young Amelia Earhart in the recently-wrapped biopic of the legendary aviator.
Linda Woolverton ("THE LION KING") has written the "ALICE" script, which will be shot by combining live-action footage with performance-capture animation.
Synopsis : The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn't remember.
